McDonald Islands

Captain William McDonald of the British ship Samarang discovered the McDonald Islands on January 3, 1854. Three separate islands make up the McDonald Islands: Meyer Rock, Flat Island, and McDonald Island. Approximately one million pairs of Macaroni Penguins breed on the McDonald Islands. The islands are now considered an external territory of Australia.
